We have noticed a great improvement in visitors and increased sales

During the last 16 months Chris Brown and The Design Company have been hosting our ageing ecommerce website, our email provider and operated our AdWords/newsletter campaigns plus being on call for any problems we may have caused due to us being non-technical-wizards.

Late 2016 we asked Chris if he would re-design the Cartridge Refills website to be a modern, responsive, mobile/tablet friendly Online shop with over 900 products, a custom product filter for easy cartridge selection and all necessary “bells and whistles”.

Meta Title & Description - SEO Tips

Title Tags

Title tags are used to tell search engines and visitors what any given page on your site is about in the most concise and accurate way possible.

The closer to the start of the title tag a keyword is, the more likely it will be used to rank for that keyword based query.

  • 50-60 characters long, including spaces
  • Put your most important keywords first
  • Do not duplicate title tags
  • Must accurately describe the content on the page
  • Write title tags for humans (don’t keyword stuff)

Meta Description Tags

The meta description is a ~160 character snippet, or a tag in HTML, that summarises a page’s content. Search engines show the meta description in the search results and so this becomes a mini advert. Its main purpose is to get the visitor from Google to click your link. Although Google doesn’t use it to rank your page, Google does use click-through rates as part of their ranking algorithm and so having a relevant meta description does indirectly effect your page ranking.

  • 135 to 160 characters
  • Include a call-to-action
  • Match the page content
  • It should contain the focus keyword
  • The meta description should be unique

NZ Billiards & Snooker Association website upgrade

The new New Zealand Billiards & Snooker Association website is now launched. The main challenge was managing the large amount of archived data going back to the year 2000. We have been able to achieve a well organised site that is easy to update and can be mostly managed by volunteers within the organisation.

The new website can now be viewed on mobile devices and so is much more accessible and easy to navigate.

  • Fully responsive (Mobile friendly)
  • Photo gallery
  • Archived tournament results and news articles
  • Content management

With over 750 products it was important to create a filtering system that was intuitive and easy to use. The site features:

  • Fully responsive (mobile ready)
  • 'Find Your Cartridge' custom product filter
  • Google Adwords conversion tracking
  • Email newsletter integration

The site also has a powerful admin for managing orders and products.

IMAP or POP3?

IMAP

IMAP stores your email on a remote server and synchronizes your email with multiple devices. Removing an email from one device removes it from all your devices as well as the server.

POP3

POP3 downloads email to your computer/devices, and (depending on your settings) deletes the email from the remote server after a certain period of time. You can delete an email from one device without it being removed from another.

Feedback from parents has been 100% positive

We could not be more impressed with the work Chris has completed for us.  We needed a website that current and prospective parents could quickly find the information they were looking for.  We also needed a site that our staff could update easily without the chance of ruining the look and feel of the site.  The documentation provided was clear and enabled staff to immediately amend and update the site with confidence.
